Katniss keeps the pearl Peeta gave her and spends a lot of time holding it in her hand in Mockingjay. She even kisses it at one point, pretending she’s kissing Peeta.

Did you like the HIMYM finale?

I’ve yet to meet anyone who liked the HIMYM finale.

Spoiler warning, obviously, to anyone who hasn’t seen it yet.

I never liked Ted and Robin together and I shipped Barney and Robin, so that’s one obvious reason why I didn’t like the finale. But what bothers me so much about it is that if they knew this was the ending they had in mind, why did they write the show the way they did? Why spend more episodes than I can count hammering us over the head with “Ted and Robin are no longer in love and don’t fit well together” if they wanted us to ship them? Why spend years on Barney and Robin’s wedding (including the entire last season, plus having the actual wedding take place in the penultimate episode) if they were going to break up five minutes into the finale? I think their choice of ending stinks but if they really wanted to go with that I could have been okay with it if they had written the show to fit with that ending but instead they did the exact opposite.

Also, The Mother was clearly nothing other than an egg donor. Robin can’t have kids, isn’t interested in raising kids, Ted meets the mother, has kids with her, once they’re grown enough to be adolescents and not children the mother dies and Ted can be with Robin again. Heck, even the children seemed to think their mother was nothing more than a placeholder. Their scene was less “Dad, I know you loved Mom but she’s not coming back - it’s okay to move on” and much more “Come on Dad, Mom wasn’t your great love, Aunt Robin is - we totally ship you two together!”

They should have either filmed multiple endings with the kids, changed the ending to fit what the show turned into (the original ending could have been a cool bonus feature on the DVDs) or written the show to fit with the ending they had in mind. As it is, the finale really ruined the show for me. Not in a “my ship didn’t end up together so it sucks” kind of way, but in an “everything leading up to this has been entirely pointless because The Mother doesn’t matter in the slightest” kind of way.

So, no, I did not like the finale =) Thanks for asking!
